The CPRA contains notice and disclosure requirements for covered businesses. When the law was effective in 2020, employers had to comply with only one notice requirement with respect to employees and job applicants, sometimes called the “notice at collection,” which requires covered businesses to inform consumers at or before the time of collection what categories of personal information are being collected and the purposes for which that information is used. The notice at collection requirements changed when the CPRA amendments took effect on January 1, 2023.
